Zonal Squads Selection Announcement. Five SGA gymnasts selected for European Championship training phase.

SGA are very proud to announce that five gymnasts have been selected to train in phase 3 of the TeamGym Zonal Squad progamme in the run up to the 2016 TeamGym European Championships. Damien Quinton and Brodie Aziz have been selected for the Junior Mens Team, Megan Coates (MC) the Junior Mixed Team, Alice Morbey the Junior Womens Team and Megan Coates was chosen for the Senior Womens Team.

This means they are one step closer to representing GB at the European Championships in October. The standard was very high at the selection event so the gymnasts have done exceptionally well to make it through to the next stage.   A special mention to Abbie Davison who, although she was not selected this time, has improved amazingly during her time training with the Northern Zonal Squad in phase one and two.  A big thank you to all the Northern Squad coaches for the many voluntary hours put in to help develop the gymnasts and for their advice and support which has had a positive impact on everyone involved.

We are also very pleased to announce that SGA coach Nikii Walker has been selected as a coach for the Womens Teams in Phase three. She will be assisting in the development of the junior and senior women’s teams in the run up to European Championships.  We would also like to congratulate the other Northern squad coaches who were selected to develop the teams in phase 3 – Aimee Walker from Leeds Esprit Gymnastics Club and Chris Short will be working with the Mens teams and Candy Lakin from Crewe and Nantwich Gymnastics Club has been chosen to work with the Womens teams.

This will be a fantastic experience for everyone, many congratulations.
