SCARBOROUGH gymnasts are keeping their fingers crossed for a possible TV performance on Britain’s Got Talent.
The youngsters from Scarborough Gymnastics Academy in Barry’s Lane have already auditioned in Newcastle and have been asked to prepare for the next round of the ITV show.
Nikii Walker, one of the head coaches, said: “We’re all very excited – we’re just waiting to see what happens.
“Hopefully we should hear something in the next few weeks.”
Miss Walker added that the first audition was a great success and proved popular with the show’s producers. She said: “It was a great experience for the kids and the Britain’s Got Talent team made us feel very welcome.”
A group of 16 girls took part, aged from eight to 15. They are all now applying for a licence to appear on TV.
Gymnasts from the academy have also been busy performing a series of Christmas displays for parents and friends.
Miss Walker said: “It’s been going really well and everyone has been very impressed. We’ve had lots of support from volunteers and members of the fundraising committee.”
All 250 pupils at the academy have been taking part in the displays.
