We would like to congratulate Marjorie Carter for recently winning a National award for inspiring a generation.

Marjorie competed as a gymnast at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games & the 1960 Rome Olympic Games. Marjorie then went on to coaching, and inspired many gymnasts and coaches throughout the years. SGA head coaches Nikii and Evy were coached by Marjorie at the city of Leeds gymnastics club where she was head coach for many years. Marjorie was also a huge part of the Leeds Esprit coaching team for 8 years, and volunteered 3 times a week at the club, because of her love for the sport.

McCarthy & Stone build retirement housing across Britain, and have a complex where Marjorie currently lives. McCarthy & Stone have recently run a campaign called Inspirational Generation, which involved a search for the most inspirational older people in the UK. There have been various regional winners of the campaign, and Marjorie has been chosen as the National winner!

McCarthy & Stone teamed up with Leeds Esprit and held an event to celebrate Marjorie’s amazing achievement!

Congratulations from everyone at SGA. We are all very proud of Marjorie, and she is a very well deserved winner! 🏆

Marjorie was a huge inspiration to us and inspired us to coach. Without that SGA would not exist. Thankyou Marjorie ⭐️

Once priority booking has closed for current members, emails will be sent out in the next couple of weeks to children who have been on the waiting list and are next in line for a place. If you don’t receive an email please check your junk mail in case it has gone in there.  (Please note the waiting time is much shorter for some age groups)

All the gymnasts at SGA have been working incredibly hard over the last few weeks and many of the gymnasts have performed lots of new skills within this training period. Here’s some of skills that the gymnasts have learnt. Well done guys 😄

The crop top order has arrived, they look fantastic and are great to train in especially with the warmer weather.  We are placing a last minute crop top order as since the original order has been placed lots of people have asked about ordering one.  Please complete the order form & return by Monday 9th July (ignore the date on the form)  Orders usually take around 4 weeks after processing.  We have a coulpe of smaller sizes in stock from the original order so will allocate these as the orders come in.

All SGA Recreational gymnasts will be assessed for their British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards on Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th & Saturday 30th June.

Please don’t worry if you child misses their session as we can test them the following week.  Please forward a note with the awards your child has passed.

If you child is taking award 1 there is an additional charge of £3.75 for the medal.  Please forward this in cash.  Please note all new gymnasts will start on the first award which is number 8. 🙂

SGA are looking for Raffle / Tombola Prizes for the Annual Presentation Evening. Any donations such as vouchers, wine, cakes, bottles, chocolate, toiletries etc from members, families or businesses would be very much appreciated. All contributions will help towards the clubs ongoing fundraising efforts for exciting new equipment which will benefit all members 🙂
