Important Notice for all Saturday Class Gymnasts!

Due to a national event taking place your child’s session times may have changed for one week only on Saturday 8th April.  The car park may be busier than normal so it may be a good idea to park nearby to avoid congestion in the car park.

Class Times are as follows:

Shooting Stars – Usual Class Time – 9-9.45am (No change)

Gym Stars 1 – Usual Class Time – 9.45-10.30am (No change)

Gym Stars 2 – Usual Class Time – 10.30-11.30am – Change of time on Sat 8th April to 9-10am.

Gym Stars 3 – Usual Class Time – 11.30am-12.30pm – Change of time on Sat 8th April to 10-11am.

All Stars – Usual Class Time – 12-1pm – Change of day / time to Thursday 6th April –  7-8pm

UKCC Level 1 Coach – Age 16+

British Gymnastics are running a level 1 coaching course at SGA on March 25th & 26th and there are a couple of places still available (booking closes on Thursday 23rd March)  This course is an official British gymnastics Coaching Qualification and anyone aged 16+ can attend this.  UKCC Level 1 Coach: This course will qualify you to be an assistant coach within your chosen gymnastics discipline. You will learn theoretical gymnastic knowledge such as emotional, cognitive and biomechanical development, as well as discipline specific practical skills. You will be able to support budding participants in a variety of moves and apparatus and help them in their gymnastics development.

Award Scheme Coaching Core Proficiency – Age 14+

This course will qualify you to teach our Core Proficiency Award Scheme within a club or leisure centre environment.Award scheme coaching is a great way to get involved with coaching gymnastics, even if you are new to the sport. You get to coach gymnastics within a fun environment, supporting participants in the development of new skills through dynamic pulse raising, strength and flexibility exercises. You can deliver fun gymnastics through detailed workcards, which include exciting activities and exercises for participants to follow. You get to work with both female and male participants ranging from ages five to eleven.

Many of our award scheme coaches are parents, teachers or gymnasts.

Intro into Coaching – Age 11 to 17

This course offers you the exciting chance to begin your coaching journey. You will learn about the fundamentals skills of being a coach and how to apply these skills within a gymnastics environment.  You will learn the roles and responsibilities of a coach, develop a basic understanding of the technicalities of gymnastics, and understand the role of a helper within coaching sessions.  This course will allow you to develop a better understanding of gymnastics and the many exciting opportunities on offer.

Last chance to book a place for your child on the SGA Easter Gymnastics Camps.  The closing date is today 21st March, however we have applied an extension to the closing date until Thursday 24th March.  We still have a couple of spaces on all camps.  If you would like to book please forward payment by BACS or cash along with the booking form which can be returned to SGA or emailed. If you would like to pick up a paper copy of the form or pop in to book a place we are open Tue 4-8pm, Wed 4-8pm and Thursday 4-8pm.  🙂

If your child has not attended SGA before for any sessions and you are only booking for 1 or 2 sessions you do not need to pay the £7.00 temporary British Gymnastics Membership on this occasion as the camps will count as a trial period. SGA Design a Leotard Competition!

Here is the template for the colouring competition featured in the Spring newsletter.  Just download and print the image, colour in or use fabrics, glitter and whatever you feel.  Hand it in to the office or front desk when you have finished and the winner will be given an SGA mini goody bag! Winner announced in next terms newsletter.

If you would like a boys leotard template, please see any of the admin team who will be happy to provide you with one.

SGA Important Term Date Info for All Members.

SGA will close for normal sessions on Saturday 18th February at 1pm.  The holiday camps and competitive training for the Edinburgh competition will take place on Mon 20th, Tue 21st & Wed 22nd Feb (Times as notified).

SGA will reopen on Monday 27th Feb at 9am, the timetable for this week for competitive & development groups and the Tue entry squad are different so if your child has not brought home their letter please let us know.

SGA is closed on the following dates due to the Edinburgh competition and coach absences. 

Friday 3rd & Sat 4th March

Thursday 9th & Friday 10th March

Friday 17th March.

All classes resume as normal from Mon 20th March and this term ends on Sat 8th April.
